Welcome!

Edmund’s – Oakridge – Sherman Hill Community Garden

Hello and welcome to our community garden! We’re located at Edmunds Elementary School in historic Sherman Hill, in Des Moines, Iowa.

There are 52 plots for gardeners here at Edmund’s offered on a first come, first served basis. Due to construction for a brand new school this year, we are unable to promise garden plots to our neighbors. If you would like to be included on our waiting list for next year please contact Bob and Cheryl Marckman: cmarkmann @ earthlink.net (no spaces)

We’re deeply grateful for the efforts of neighbors, friends and gardeners residing in the Oakridge Neighborhood, who built this garden twelve years ago. For friends whose primary language is other than English, please visit our mojofiti blog.

We could not be more grateful for all of the great things Ray Meylor has done for us!

Spectacular volunteers helped stake out the garden plots May 1st.

April 2011:  The entire garden receives a nice dose of horse manure compost. A dream come true!

Thank goodness for Ray and friends at the Izaak Walton League.
